Kids
St Bede’s is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for children and their families, where they are valued as a part of a faith community.
In particular we think Young People (and their families):-
- Are a gift from God
- Need to experience what it means to belong to a community of Faith
- Need to be valued and recognized
- Are welcomed
- Have their ideas, opinions, and gifts respected
- Have their needs met
The Church includes a “Kid’s Zone” area where activities for children and their families are provided, with people to help. The area also has an attractive collection of children’s books. Every week as part of the 9.30 am service we have a leadership team of adults ready to give focused attention to any children who join us for worship. Our kid’s ministry leaders have a story/activity ready to engage in while remaining in church. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to take their children to the Kid’s Zone of the church which is the carpeted area on the front left side facing the altar. As the saying goes “It takes a village to raise a child” well the same is true for us “It takes a whole community of faith to nurture a child’s faith”. There are various ways you may like to assist with this ministry. This may include assisting with the “kid’s zone” working with another leader, contributing financially towards relevant new children’s resources such as books, music and promoting our youth ministry in the local paper from time to time and funding a “Kid’s Church” sign for the footpath.
“Kids’ Sunday” happens on the first Sunday of the month. This is a Service especially structured for children to take part in. Children and their families participate in all aspects of the Service. The Service includes Kids’ Talk, and an activity in which everone present is encouraged to participate. A sausage sizzle follows.
It has been great to see so many parishioners participating
enthusiastically in our Kids Sunday Services, and having fun with young people in their faith journey.
